Masterplan for and refurbishment of Tonsenhagen Mall and its surroundings: A strategically planned refurbishment of the 1950s mall, formally protected by the Cultural Heritage Department on regional level, alongside the creation of a new underground grocery store behind the original mall with discreet access from the plaza. By splitting the project into two phases, we eliminated the need for costly and time-consuming area regulations, using innovative and subtle techniques found within municipal planning documents.
Sometimes, architecture is less about making bold statements and more about concealing the unsightly and restoring the integrity of what already exists.
